The King of Cool…

Steve McQueen for me, is hands down the hottest Hollywood Star to have ever lived. With his smouldering good looks and those blue blue eyes, it’s no wonder woman (myself included) found him irresistible, even Marilyn Monroe fell for his macho sex appeal.

‘The King Of Cool’ wasn’t his only title he was also labelled ‘The Love Machine’. He slept his way through the majority of his co-stars apparently ‘some being men’!

McQueen was the highest paid actor of the 60′s & 70′s and to this day I don’t believe there has been any other actor with the same sex appeal and rawness of ‘the king of cool’.

I welcome your suggestions???

Here’s a few pics of the hotty along with a few of his stunning lovers.

ENJOY!

Waking the Sleeping Giant…

So as you know here at the BB office we don’t mind a good movie. So we have exciting news about an amazing new Australian film featuring works from some very special Australian Women.

The film is called “Sleeping Beauty” by writer turned director Julia Leigh. Presented by Piano Director Jane Campion, “Sleeping Beauty” debut’s highly acclaimed and for good reason. Featuring what looks to be amazing performances by Australian actresses Emily Browning and Rachel Blake, it is already a hot topic amongst the film industry in Cannes and across the world and the film hasn’t screened publicly yet.

Now to the good stuff, the movie. From what snippets we’ve seen and all of the hot fuss around the internet; “Sleeping Beauty” is a story about stunning young university student Lucy (Browning) who is recruited by Mistress, Clara (Blake) to be part of a very exclusive club for gentlemen,  which provides a highly specific service to their client. Basically it is a brothel that allows men to fulfil highly unique and exotic fetishes, and each girl who works for the institute provides a different style of service, Lucy’s speciality: She goes to sleep whilst her clients can enact any fantasies they wish, while Lucy remembers nothing of the interaction.  Until Lucy decides that she wants to find out what happens, where the story begins. This is all we know here but we’re dying to find out more!!!

Slick and delicious visual cinematography, Browning and Blake look stunning, amazing set design, a sumptuous thrilling plot Sleeping Beauty is going to give Aranofsky’s Black Swan a run for its money! Can Leigh be Australia’s Stanley Kubrick?

Due for release later this year, WE CANT WAIT!!!

Great Minds Think Alike

Watch this gorgeous video created by two amazing artists, Salvador Dali and Walt Disney. The Soundtrack is moving and beautiful. This inspirational video got us feeling all warm and fuzzy in the office but also someone else who is an inspiration to us. Janelle Monae (who we’ve posted about in the past), after seeing this video, wrote the song “Sir Greendown” for her Album “The ArchAndroid” her song is featured below. See if you can hear the connection between them! We love!

Date With A Little Gold Man.

Here at the BB office we love getting caught up with the circus that is the Oscars, mostly because of the looks on the red carpet and of course seeing if our favourite nominees win the coveted award (yes – go Natalie!).

Here are our top three favourite red carpet looks.

The gorgeous Academy Award winner Natalie Portman in a beautiful Rodarte gown, designers of the costumes in ‘Black Swan’

Belle Bijoux fan Cate Blanchett in an unconventional Academy Awards gown, by Givenchy. We LOVE!

Mila Kunis in Lilac Elie Saab looks ethereal.

All of these colours are totally on trend and hints of Lilac, Nude and Garnet can be found in Belle Bijoux Australia’s upcoming winter collection. Oscar anyone?

Swanning around with Portman & Kunis

Over the Festive Season we’ve been a little indulgent in the joys of life and let work slip by the wayside a little, so sincerest apologies in our lack of blogging, but we’re back and kicking off 2011 with a BANG!

Today we blog about Black Swan. If you haven’t seen the preview – watch it now! if you haven’t seen the Movie! GO NOW! NOW I TELL YOU! (unless you’re having a bad day, then perhaps wait until tomorrow)

Black Swan is Darren Aronofsky’s companion piece to 2008′s the Wrestler. It is about  Ballet Dancer Nina (Portman) who scores the lead in Swan Lake as the White Swan Queen. Nina however, perfectly suited to the role of White Swan, struggles with the dual role as the sensual Black Swan, the dark  twin of the White Swan. Nina’s Artistic Director’s (Vincent Cassell) reluctance to believe if she suited to handle the role, Rival Dancer Lily (Mila Kunis) and Nina’s Controlling mother (Barbara Hershey) cause Nina to put pressure on herself, obsess over the role and start to question her reality. From there on in, it is a roller coaster ride of ballet, psychosis and sexy. Oh yes, hold on to your seats as this is one crazy ride.

Natalie Portman is exceptionally gifted at her craft and this is by far one of her best. Mila Kunis is a sensual creature which is a refreshing change in contrast to her mostly benign television roles. Aronofsky has outdone himself with Black Swan, it is visceral and edgy and an instant classic.

Visually delicious, Black Swan offers a lot to the senses, so here are some images that we love of Portman and Kunis on and off the film as well as some amazing Art Deco inspired film posters promoting Black Swan designed by Artist ‘La Boca’

where’ s that LOVE button?!
